Joseph Craven

“In proud memory of our fallen comrade Joseph Craven, Irish National Liberation Army, murdered by Loyalists 5th December 1983. He died as he lived – a true revolutionary. Erected by the Irish Republican Socialist Ex-Prisoners Memorial Committee.” Craven was shot by the UVF from a motorcycle.

Ferguson & O’Neill

Dungiven Remembers

“Dungiven remembers INLA Vol Kevin Lynch. Help build the socialist republic for which he died.” Lynch died after 71 days on hunger strike in 1981. The IRSP was the political wing of the INLA and continues to operate.

Update: the board perhaps met its end on a bonfire in the Fountain in 2014.

Fuaır Sıad Bás Ar Son Saoırse Na hÉıreann

Memorial board to four volunteers from Armagh – Jake McGerrigan (OIRA), Tony Hughes (OIRA), Peadar McElvanna (IRA), Gerard Mallon (INLA). The board is in Culdee Terrace, Armagh, where Hughes was shot by the British Army while moving arms in 1973 (Sutton). There is also a plaque to his memory and a stone commemorating both Hughes and McGerrigan who was killed two days earlier (April 7th, 1973) in nearby Windmill Avenue.

Prisoners’ Human Rights

IRSP supports political prisoners human rights in Maghaberry.” The red stars in the panel on the right are held over from the previous ‘George Dubya Bush – war criminal‘ mural. The panel to the left, and the ‘plough in the stars over Long Kesh’ are new (late 2009).
