A call for “truth” and “justice” concerning the Ballymurphy Massacre. “11 people in west Belfast from the Greater Ballymurphy neighbourhood were murdered by the British Army as internment without trial was violently carried out on August 9th, 1971. Proper police investigations were never undertaken and no one has served a day in prison for causing these deaths. The familys [sic] of those murdered deserve and demand the truth be told by the state about its policies and actions of those who carried them out.” The 11 are (clockwise) Eddie Docherty [Doherty], Joseph Corr, John McKerr, John Laverty, Joan Connolly, Fr Hugh Mullan, Danny Teggart, Joseph Murphy, Paddy McCarthy, Frank Quinn, Noel Philips.

“Change the dynamics of local politics – vote republican! vote for change! Vótáıl Garry Donnelly #1 Derry City Council elections 2011” Donnelly ran as an independent republican; he was unsuccessful in 2011 but elected in 2014 (WP). The board appears below a 32CSM board in Westland St, Derry.

Sinn Féin electoral ads from Derry and Omagh ahead of the 2011 Assembly elections:

First, a paint-bombed hoarding at the top of Abercorn Road, Derry.
Second, the words of Bobby Sands are invoked in Gobnascale (Strabane Old Rd) – May 5th is also the date of Sands’s death in 1981.
Third, “Ceannasaíocht ar fud na hÉıreann” from West Tyrone Sinn Féin in James Street, Omagh.

Charge From Thiepval Wood

The mural replaces one to the UVF’s Platoon 5 , A Co., and the memorial stone is dedicated to it (and not to the WWI soldiers from the 36th (Ulster) Division who died in the charge from Thiepval Wood, July 1st, 1916): “This stone is dedicated to the memory of the fallen volunteers of No. 5 platoon A company 1st Belfast battalion Ulster Volunteer Force. ‘As poppy petals gently fall/Remember us who gave our all/Not in the mud of foreign lands/Nor buried in the desert sands//In Ulster field and farm and town/Fermanagh’s lanes and Drumlin’d Down/We died that violent death should cease/And Ulstermen might live in peace’ Lest we forget.” For the side walls, see Thiepval St.
