Campaigning for an Irish Language Act, begun with the Belfast Agreement (see the 2002 mural in this location which calls for “language rights”) and reinforced by the St Andrew’s Agreement in 2006, continues. “The Irish Language Act NI – needed more now than ever before.” “Acht na Gaeılge T[uaıscaırt] É[ıreann] – de dhíth níos mó anoıs ná rıamh roımhe!” Pobal is a non-profit community development organisation and umbrella group for Irish-language efforts.

Gibraltar

“I ndıl chuımhne – In proud and loving memory of Volunteers Dan McCann, Mairead Farrell, Sean Savage, Óglaıgh Na hÉıreann who were executed by British Crown forces in Gibraltar 6th March, 1988.” The three were killed in Gibraltar by the SAS in what was known as “Operation Flavius”. The European Court Of Human Rights found that the use of force was unlawful. (WP)

Colin Area Remembers With Pride And Honour

“Everyone tells me I’m a feminist. All I know is that I’m just as good as others, and that especially means men. I am definitely a socialist and I’m definitely a Republican. I believe in a united socialist country, definitely socialist. Capitalism can offer our people nothing and yet that’s the main interest of the British in Ireland – Óglach Maıréad Farrell.” Farrell was one of the Gibraltar 3 (along with Sean Savage and Dan McCann), killed by SAS soldiers in 1988.
