Milltown Arch
This is the arch in Milltown Street, Dungannon. The panels show (left) William, Prince Of Orange and (right) the B-Special and UDR on either side of an Ulster Banner in the shape of Northern Ireland, and, (left) Milltown Arch Committee, Dungannon, and (right) the surnames of the thirteen apprentice boys who shut the gates of Derry against the forces of James II in 1688.

On one side of the main board in this arch is King Billy and on the other flags and a coat of arms associated with the Orange Order. One of the flags reads “For the Protestant religion – Constitution 1688“; on the ribbon banner are the words “Sit lux [et] lux fuit. [Let there be light, and there was light]”

Thug Sıad A Raıbh Acu
“Thug sıad a raıbh acú [sic] ar son saoırse na hEırınn [sic].” “From death springs life and from the graves of patriots springs a great nation. [from Pearse’s oration at O’Donovan Rossa’s funeral].” The volunteers listed are Jake McGerrigan, Tony Hughes, Peadar McElvanna, Tony McClelland, Petter Corrigan, Seamus Grew, Roddy Carroll, Gerard Mallon, Sean McIlvanna [McIlvenna], Martin Corrigan, Dessie Grew. McGerrigan and Hughes were OIRA.

IRA volunteer Gerry McGeough (with a “u”) was jailed for the attempted murder of the UDR’s Samuel Brush in 1981. His appeal for a pardon, based on time served previously in Germany, was denied in March (BBC).

Traitor McGuinness
On June 27th, (2012) Martin McGuinness of Sınn Féın and formerly the IRA shook hands with Queen Elizabeth II, head of the UK’s armed forces (Guardian). Derry republicans took to the walls of Derry to express their feelings of betrayal.
