The mural to the first child killed in the Troubles, Annette McGavigan, entitled The Death Of Innocence, was repainted by the Bogside Artists in 2006. On account of the success of the peace process and IRA decommissioning of weapons, the rifle on the left is broken. The info board is from 2007.

The IRA has no official flag and thus the Irish Tricolour serves the purpose. Here it stands between the Gal Gréine (Sunburst) of the Fianna (junior IRA) and the Starry Plough of Irish socialist groups, with the four provinces to the right.

“RMS Titanic launched May 31 1911.” The design of RMS Titanic was overseen by Thomas Andrews Jr (among others) and constructed at Harland and Wolff shipyards in Belfast. Andrews was on the ship when it hit an iceberg and sank. Both he and captain Edward Smith went down with the ship.
