This is the first full mural from the IRPWA in the Collection (after a 2001 flag in Derry and some 2002 writing in Belfast). It calls for segregation in Portlaoise, Maghaberry, and English jails.

In addition to the 1981 hunger strikers and Stagg and Gaughan, the mural mentions Paddy Joe Crawford, Francis Dodds, Patrick Teer, Teddy Campbell, Hugh Coney, Jim Moyne, Henry Henry, Sean Bateson, Pol Kinsella (all from Long Kesh), Tom Smyth, Brendan Seery, Paddy Kelly (Portlaoise), Noel Jenkinson and Sean O’Conaill (who died in English prisons).

Here are two images of a variety of small boards in Gardenmore Road/Laburnum Way, Twinbrook, including three about the RUC, a tricoloured H-shaped board with ten crosses, and a portrait of Bobby Sands who lived in the building that the boards are on. “Free the Colombia 3”. Niall Connolly (SF), Jim Monaghan (IRA), and Martin McCauley (IRA) were arrested in August, 2001 travelling on false passports in Colombia. They were also charged with training FARC rebels to make bombs. Initially, they were found innocent of this charge in the December 2002 trial, but then found guilty of it on appeal by the prosecution (in December 2004), at which time they fled back to Ireland (WP). The board is on top of Rem The Prisoners.
