Mick O’Brien
More graffiti urging the transfer of republican prisoners from English jails. Mick O’Brien was jailed for his part in the killing of North Yorkshire Constable Glen Goodman in 1992. He was moved to Portlaoise and released in 1998. (An Phoblacht interview | Irish Times). “Mick O’Brien on the blanket in an English jail – transfer him now”, “Stop the torture of Irish POWs in English jails.”

Paddy Kelly
IRA man Paddy Kelly developed skin cancer while being held in Whitemoor. From there he was transferred to Maghaberry and then to Portlaoise. He died in 1997 (Irish Times | An Phoblacht biography). Graffiti on the Falls Road and Cavendish Street, Belfast, calling for his release and the transfer of POWs.
