Harris Boyle and Wesley Somerville were UDR soldiers and UVF volunteers. They were “killed in action” when the bomb they were planting on the minibus of the Miami Showband went off prematurely. Of the pair, only Somerville’s arm with its “UVF Portadown” tattoo remained identifiable (WP). The plaque is in Princess Way/Gloucester Avenue, Portadown.

Óglach Caoımhín Mac Brádaıgh was killed in pursuit of Michael Stone as he attacked the burials of the Gibraltar Three in Milltown Cemetery on March 16th, 1988.

2008 was the twentieth anniversary of the killing of IRA members Seán Savage, Danny McCann, and Maıréad Farrell in Gibraltar on March 6th, and the subsequent deaths related to their funerals: IRA volunteer Kevin McCracken was shot on the 14th near the Savage family home on the night the coffins arrived in Belfast and, at the funeral, Thomas McErlean, John Murray, and IRA volunteer Caoımhín Mac Bradaıgh were killed by the UDA’s Michael Stone. The Ballyseedy Memorial was used in the mural painted at the time.

A small tribute to the Bloody Sunday dead: portraits of fifteen victims with two verses of a song “Murder In Mind”: “They came to our town, the Paras, with murder in mind//As people marched down from Creggan/Towards the Guildhall for civil rights/It was a cold but sunny day/No one could image what was in front of them that sunny day.//The Paras stood in William Street/Laughing and chatting and raring to go/To murder for king and crown/And for Ted Heath 10 Downing Street”. (Also seen in 2002.)
The memorial pillar dates back to 1974.
