The lower part of the long wall in Bishop Street, Derry, in 1988. From left to right: a funeral volley fired over a scroll (blank in the first shot, filled-in in the fifth; Cú Chulaınn dying; portraits of the ten deceased 1981 hunger strikers; Bobby Sands’s “spirit of freedom” quote (shown in the final image) which concludes “I remain what I am – a political prisoner of war”; a celtic cross; “Free All POWs” (similar image to Racecourse Road); and a lark in barbed wire over a Tricolour.

This is an early version of the Brian Robinson mural in Disraeli Street, Belfast. It features Robinson’s portrait in a wreath (“For God and Ulster – 1st Batt. B. Coy”) and the emblems of the UVF and PAF. It would later be modified to include flags and a scroll. Robinson was shot by the British Army in 1989 immediately after he had shot and killed a Catholic (Paddy McKenna) walking along Crumlin Road.

Three in a row in Mount Sion, Strabane. On the left, a single volunteer fires a funeral shot over a very faded saying of Pearse’s: “Life springs from death and from the graves of patriotic men and women spring living nations.” In the centre, another funeral volley over an INLA Roll Of Honour bearing the names Neil McMonagle, Colm McNutt, Pierce Moore, Patsy O’Hara, Kevin Lynch, Micky Devine, James McPhilemy. On the right, a masked INLA volunteer with Thompson sub-machine gun.
