This is the arch in Milltown Street, Dungannon. The panels show (left) William, Prince Of Orange and (right) the B-Special and UDR on either side of an Ulster Banner in the shape of Northern Ireland, and, (left) Milltown Arch Committee, Dungannon, and (right) the surnames of the thirteen apprentice boys who shut the gates of Derry against the forces of James II in 1688.

Clonoe Martyrs

East Tyrone remembers IRA volunteers Patrick Vincent, Sean O’Farrell, Peter Clancy, and Barry O’Donnell, who were killed by the SAS after attacking Coalisland RUC station with a machine gun mounted on the back of a lorry on February 16th, 1992 as they were switching from the attack vehicles to getaway cars in Clonoe (WP). With republican graffiti: “End strip searches in Maghaberry jail on republican POWs”.

East Tyrone Remembers

Three images from the roundabout joining Mullaghmore Road, Donaghmore Road, and Newell Road, in Dungannon. East Tyrone remembers both the 1981 hunger strike and IRA Volunteers Sean Loughran, Dermot Crowley, and Patrick Carty, who died “on active service” (premature bomb explosion) in June 1973 (An Phoblacht).

Here We Stand We Can Do No Other

The Orange Order was prevented from marching from Drumcree church (shown in the board) down the Garvaghy Road (in Portadown) by the RUC in the mid- to late-1990s, which the OO claimed impinged upon its “civil and religious liberty” (in he flag). The dispute was notable (among other reasons) for the emergence of Billy Wright (then a member of the UVF). Wright was unhappy with how the dispute was conducted and ultimately he and his unit were stood down (in 1996), and Wright went on to found the LVF.
